Dental Health

This week we used tooth brushes to paint a brown tooth and make it white and shiny! We learned about the importance of brushing, the correct way to brush, and read lots of books about visiting the dentist.

Dinosuars

This week we studied dinosaurs.  We made a list of all the dinosaurs we learned about and the total came to 21!  We used our dinosaur knowledge to make these dinosaur foldables.

On Friday we used our digging skills to dig for dinosaur bones!!

Groundhog’s Day

Shadows we so fun to learn about this week!  We used the projector and the students stood in front of it and made shadows.  They always want to make shadows while we are using the projector for a lesson- so this was a special treat and they had a GREAT time doing it!We did lots of writing about groundhogs and the students made their own groundhog book. We took a trip to WCHS to see the Music Man musical!

Penguins

Penguins are funny little birds that the students had a wonderful time learning about.  This week we used the tree map and brainstormed what penguins can, have, and are.  After reading lots of non-fiction books, the students did great with this!This was the finished product!We also made a penguin craft and then added the life cycle of a penguin on a little book glued to his belly.

Snowmen & Snow Globes

The students wrote what they would be or do if they lived in a snow globe—they were price less!

Friday’s snack was to make a snowman using 2 powdered donuts, chocolate chips, and a candy corn.  WE didn’t have candy corn so we used orange slices cut into triangles.

Gingerbread Boy and Girl

The Monday before we got out for Christmas break, we wrapped up our study of many, many different gingerbread books.  We had plans to make our own gingerbread boy and gingerbread girl, but it didn’t work out quite like we had planned!

The dough was rolled outthen we used different types of candy to decorate themWe were so glad that Mrs. Moran’s daughter was at school with us that day because Mrs. Abraham was struggling to get the Gingerbread girl to look like a gingerbread girl!  Here they are before we put them in the oven!The students were so excited to go get the gingerbread boy and girl out of the oven.EEEEEkkkkkkk- when we got to the cafeteria- the gingerbread boy and girl had leaped out of the oven and left us clues all over the school.  We had to go on a hunt to find them.

We finally found them under the Christmas tree in Ms. Peck’s room!
